The injury bug has been making its way around the NFL teams and today it took a trip to the San Francisco 49ers’ training camp. Matt Maiocco of csnbayarea.com reports that Linebacker Patrick Willis sustained a hand injury during practice.
Linebacker Patrick Willis sustained an injury Wednesday afternoon and spent most of the practice with a large wrap on his right hand. Willis appeared to sustain the injury in a blitz pickup drill while matched against fullback Bruce Miller.
Cardinals drafted wide out Ryan Swope in the sixth-round of this year’s draft and now the former Texas A&M Aggie has been forced to retire due to concussion symptoms. Swope ran a 4.34 in a forty during the draft combine, so we’re all hoping the wide out can get healthy and show off his speed in the NFL.
Former first round pick of the New Orleans Saints, Sedrick Ellis, is said to be retiring. Kevin Seifert of ESPN reported that Ellis did not report to Bears training camp and has informed the team that he is done with the NFL. Ellis was signed by the Bears during the off-season
#Bears announce DL Sedrick Ellis did not report to camp and has informed them he plans to retire. Was to provide DT depth.
The fact that JJ Watt can get over 50 thousand hits one a video of jumping is amazing. However, the simple video shows that this guy is just an athletic freak. I now see how he bats down so many QB passes during the season.
Tight end Chris Cooley will hang up the pad and pick up the mic. Cooley will retire from the NFL after nine-years in a Washington Redskins uniform. The former pass catcher will now join the crew of ESPN 980 for the radio broadcast.
The Atlanta Falcons have a billion dollars to spend on a stadium and, from the looks of it, they are going to build a kick ass one with the money. The mock design of the stadium ideas have been released and, to be honest, I love them. One has a retractable roof that opens and closes like a camera lens. The stadium will also have impact seats that vibrate as hard hits happen on the field.
As a Saints fan, I hope the ideas go sour but, if they get a stadium anything like the ones in the pictures, they will have the fanciest place to play in the league. Too bad the fans only show up when the team is winning (Yes, I’m hating).
Many thought Quarterback Seneca Wallace would sign with the Raiders last week but today he inked a 1-year deal with the Saints. Wallace will challenge Luke McCown for the position of being the backup to Drew Brees.
Charles Woodson is still in the free agency pool and waiting for a team to pull him out. The 36 year Corner/safety say’s that teams aren’t getting at him because of his age.
“I’m 36, so of course I’m considered ancient in the game right now, and teams are looking for younger players and trying to make their rosters younger,” Woodson said on NFL AM. “If you’re an older guy they kind of push you to the side, and they’ll maybe look at you much later on down the road, when I guess they figure they can get you much cheaper.”
