Houston Astros Send Pitcher Norris To Baltimore For Hoes

The Houston Astros are rebuilding their team by trading any and every player that shows any type of promise. Today the Astros traded the 28-year-old right-hander Bud Norris to the Baltimore Orioles for 19-year-old prospect left hander L.J. Hoes. Norris didn’t have to travel far to meet his new team as they were already scheduled to face the Astros. Norris is 6-9 with a 3.93 ERA so far this season.

ESPN reports that the Marlins have acquired Carlos Lee from the Houston Astros for minor leaguers Matt Dominguez and Rob Rasmussen.

Chris Carpenter Starts Rehab For Injury

Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter has been cleared to start his pitching program. Carpenter has been out since the middle of spring training with nerve issues in his neck and shoulder, and although he doesn’t have a return date. Many expect to see him back within six weeks.

“It’s about going day to day, step by step,” the 37-year-old told the Post-Dispatch. “I’m not getting very far ahead. The hope is that everything continues to progress. That’s pretty much where I’m at now.”

The Astros Won’t Change Their Name

The Houston Astros will remain the Houston Astros. In a released statement owner, Jim Crane said:

“You asked for change and we added several fan-friendly iniatives last week and we hope you like them,”

“We will continue to listen, and to look for additional ways to improve on and off the field.”

“One thing that we are not going to change is the name. We received strong feedback and consensus among season ticket holders and many fans, and will not change the name Astros.”

This is good news. As an Astros fan with hats and other merchandise, I would hate to be at the park wearing the Astros star after the logo has changed.  Good job, Mr.Crane

Houston Astros May Get A New Name And New Uniforms

The Houston Astros won’t only be switching from the National League to the American League, they may also end up with a new name and new uniforms. New team owner Jim Crane said that they are “highly considering” the change. While a new name and new uniforms are cute and all, the best news came when Crane announced that the team will be lowering ticket prices and fans can now bring their own food and water into the stadium during games.

Just days after signing shortstop Jose Reyes to a six-year, $108 million deal and chasing down homerun hitter Albert Pujols, the Miami Marlins have signed left-handed starting pitcher Mark Buehrle to a four-year, $58 million contract. The Marlins are straight cash and going the Yankees route this off-season. The question is…..will it pay off on the field?
