The Colorado Avalanche selects Nathan MacKinnon with the first pick in the NHL Draft.
“We are thrilled to be adding Nathan to our organization,” said Avalanche Director of Amateur Scouting Rick Pracey. “Nathan is a skilled forward with elite skating ability and speed. He plays an aggressive, attacking game and can elevate his game when his team needs it most.”

He finished tied for fourth on the Mooseheads in scoring and added a +40 plus/minus rating en route to being named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team. MacKinnon went on to tally 33 points (11g/22a) in 17 playoff games as the Mooseheads won the league championship. Nathan’s 33 postseason points tied him for second in the QMJHL. As Pelicans fan, I have been waiting and wanting to see the new court design and/or new uniforms. Well, one of those will be revealed on July 1st. In a press release, the team has announced that they are ready to show the fans the new arena changes.
The New Orleans Pelicans will debut the first ever rebranded New Orleans Arena court design for the upcoming 2013-14 season tomorrow, July 1 at Pelicans.com. Fans can visit the team’s website starting at 6:00 a.m. to get a sneak peak at the new look.
In addition to viewing the new court design, fans will also have the opportunity to take a virtual 360° tour of the new inner bowl of the New Orleans Arena. The IOMedia technology utilized to develop the 3-D interactive map will offer the fans the ability to see the view from any seat location at every angle.
By participating in the virtual tour, fans will also have the opportunity to register to win a pair of floor seats to a 2013-14 Pelicans home game. As plans for additional renovations are finalized, the virtual site will be updated to include images and details about the new premium seating locations and entertainment areas. An addition to the lower bowl, which can be seen in the 360° tour, is the new Loge Box seating that combines the suite experience with the excitement of stadium seating. Benefits to this space include comfortable seating, premium all-inclusive catered dining and LED monitors so fans never miss a minute of action.
Also soon to be highlighted will be the all new Party Perch located in the Balcony which will boast a new bandstand that will feature live music at home games giving Pelicans fans an atmosphere and view of the game unlike any other in the NBA.
Over 80% of seats in the Arena have had their prices reduced. For more information on season ticket packages, fans can visit Pelicans.com or call 504.525.HOOP
The Houston Rockets have released Aaron Brooks and Carlos Delfino to make cap room for Dwight Howard.

The start of the NBA free agency is here and things are about to get crazy. DallasNews.com has already reported a story on the type of craziness we can expect.
The Mavericks are in the running for Dwight Howard and the city wants him to come so bad that a local food chain (Raising Canes) is offering him free chicken fingers for a year to sign with the local team.
DALLAS, TX (July 1, 2013) – Forget the millions being offered by teams across the league. Basketball superstar Dwight Howard stands to earn free chicken finger meals — for life — if he signs a free agent contract to play in Dallas, thanks to a bold pledge by DFW-area Raising Cane’s restaurants.
The nation’s #1 quick service chain, which currently boasts 20 restaurants across the DFW Metroplex, is known for its ONE LOVE® — quality chicken finger meals – and it’s putting a lifetime of them on the line to persuade Howard to sign with Dallas.
“These next few days, Dwight Howard will be making arguably the most important career decision of his life,” said Adam Reed, Marketing Manager at Raising Cane’s. “We have a lot of passionate fans among our Crewmembers in our DFW restaurants, so we thought we’d make Dwight an offer he couldn’t refuse to up the ante for a Dallas-bound decision. We are also calling on every Dallas fan to join us in making the case online, in order to bring the big man to Big D.”
Raising Cane’s has created a special hashtag, #CANES4DWIGHT, that fans can use to join the campaign to recruit Howard to Dallas and bring the championship trophy back where it belongs.
Fans will be entered for a chance to win Free Cane’s for a Year, as well as four tickets to Dallas’ 2013 home opener, each time they use the customized hashtag. The winner will be announced shortly after Howard announces his decision.
Reed was quick to point out that he can’t speak for Cane’s locations outside DFW, but “Should Dwight decide on Dallas as his new home, he will be welcome to come by any of our local restaurants to enjoy seriously delicious chicken fingers at any time, on us, for the rest of his life.”
To find a Raising Cane’s restaurant near you, visit www.raisingcanes.com. To eventually find Dwight Howard eating at a Cane’s near you, go to www.facebook.com/RaisingCanesChickenFingers and encourage your friends to show their ONE LOVE for D12.
Let’s see if this works.
Rumors are floating around saying that Jeremy Lin may be traded in order for the Rockets to make room for Dwight Howard. While some players would probably let the whispers get to them, Lin looks to be having more fun than he had during the NBA season. The guard took some time to hoop in the San Francisco Pro-Am and was said to have dropped 45 points.

The fans in New Orleans seem to be split on the moves the team made on draft night. The team landed Jrue Holiday from the Sixers in a trade and Pierre Jackson of Baylor. Here are a few highlights of the new Pelicans. I may be wrong but, I think I read that Elston Turner Jr. from Texan A&M will be signing with the Pelicans so I added his highlights also.

The Lakers are starting to look to be in a really sad place. They are basically the guy that’s about to get dumped so he sits outside of his girlfriend’s house throwing rocks at her window trying to apologize. The PR team in L.A is doing whatever possible to keep Dwight Howard in California. They have posted another sign with Howard’s jersey number as part of their #Stayd12 campaign. I get it, Howard is a good player, but the Lakers don’t have to chase anyone…right?
Look Lakers, grab the last bit of pride you have. I would hate to see you guys painting the Hollywood walk of fame Purple & Gold for a player that’s leaving your team.
Here’s an idea, Send Howard this song playlist along with instagram pictures of you all wiping your tears with number 12 jerseys and hope that he falls back in love with you before July 10th
